- FIThydro (EU project, finished in 2021) — addressed decision support in commissioning and operating hydropower plants.
Scientific Organizations
- International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) — a worldwide independent organization of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application.
- International Society for River Science (ISRS) — fosters and develops scholarship in all disciplines contributing to knowledge and wise stewardship of rivers and streams as vital natural and managed ecosystems.

- Instream Flow Council (IFC) — a non-profit organization made up of state, provincial, and territorial fish and wildlife agencies working to improve the effectiveness of instream flow programs for conserving fish, wildlife, and related aquatic resources.

- FAO Inland Fisheries — the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger; inland fisheries have long provided an important source of food for humankind.
